Available at Carriage House Motor Cars is this stunning 1967 Ghia 450SS. The Ghia 450 SS is the brainchild of Burt Sugarman, a famous Hollywood Producer of the time. Mr. Sugarman was able to convince Ghia to produce the 450 SS and try and sell them exclusively through a new dealership he created, Beverly Hills Ghia. Only 52 examples were managed to be sold, and roughly half of them are accounted for today.
The Ghia 450 SS is the combination of Giorgetto Giugiaros Italian styling and design with an American drivetrain. Ghia had a close relationship with Chrysler having already produced additional projects for them so the Plymouth Barracuda Formula S was chosen as the structure and mechanics of the Ghia. The Barracudas highest optioned V8 engine is the power plant for car and its 4.5 liter size gave way to the name 450 SS. The cars came in at a staggering base price of $11,800 and came standard with Chryslers 3-speed TorqueFlight automatic transmission. The only options available to the car were a $600 Steel Hardtop and a $700 Borg Warner A/C unit.
This example has been fully restored including its very rare optional hardtop. The cars mechanics have been fully sorted and it is in excellent running and driving condition. The exterior black paint is clear and has a high reflection with no minor scratches. These cars do not become available on the market very often and not to this quality and standard.
