Unique Prototype Build Features

The Ferrari 275 GTB Berlinetta by Scaglietti needs no introduction. Designed from the inspiration of Ferraris racing fleet, the 275 GTB was built for customers who lived life in the fast lane. When it was introduced, it was one of the fastest road going vehicles with a 0-60 mph of 6 seconds and a top speed of 150 mph. To achieve these remarkable speeds, Ferrari made some significant upgrades from their previous performance Berlinettas. The main attraction is the introduction of a new 3.3L V12 and paired to a newly designed 5-speed rear-mounted transaxle for better weight distribution. Handling was significantly improved with the addition of 4 wheel independent suspension. The 275s interior also received an upgrade which allowed for more space and comfort. It might be the best interior Ferrari has ever installed in any of their production vehicles. The Ferrari 275 is the pinnacle of automotive motoring and is a staple of any prominent collection.

This stunning 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB Berlinetta was built and completed in September of 1965. It was built with some unique prototype features including a steel Long Nose body and CV Joints. These features were constructed by Ferrari long before production was introduced into later serial numbered examples. This example still retained Short Nose features like the Short Nose style hood, riveted competition-style gas tank centrally located in the boot, internal boot hinges and smaller rear glass. Another detail is the famous Cavallino Rapante on the grill, not something found on normal Long Nose examples. The unique build features are recognize by the Ridgley 275 Production list and sports the same build features as another 275 Prototype built in series directly before this example.

After production, this 275GTB made its way to Luigi Chinnetti Motors and sold new to its first owner John D. Cuccio of New York. John D. Cuccio was a figure of collecting Ferraris at that time but only kept this example for a short while. After staying in a couple of collections across the country for a period of time, the vehicle made its way back to a garage in NY where it would stay for 35 years. It would be there in that garage where the previous owner would find the car and keep it until today. This is an exceptional time to own an amazing example of a possible 1 of 1 Ferrari 275 GTB.
